Some of their stuff I find really striking, but I think that there is a sort of knee-jerking gushing of praise for their stuff that happens around here. I think its rad that they are finding their own way stylistically, but I dont think its really my thing.
However at the same time, they are into different music than I am, so alot of it has to do with that Im sure.
And for what it's worth, people made the same kind of complaints about David Carson in the early 90s. I dont get the same kind of visionary feeling from SP that I got from him, but again, maybe its not FOR me.
See, thing about SP is that they are doing work for clients that WANT their stuff to look like this. They know the look, and thats why they come to SP. Thats what I understand to be true anyway.

  Class. Total class.
An economy of design I would never have the balls to do.

  Youre absolutely right.

We should have someone be the voice of reason and move the squabblin to a Forum Thread when it gets like this.

except for the bottom text treatment, this is EXACTLY the kind of art GBV uses.

Really good.

Someone bevel that text and resubmit this.
and maybe put a glow on the bevel.
And a drop shadow under the glow.

Poor Arcade Fire.

I should note that my first impression having seen this was that the band would be of the 4AD sound.
But what the hell do I know?

P.S. Since were all tossin around the Anchorman shizzle......

I think that a poster should be representative somewhat of the bands sound/genre.
But if you rely too heavily on the percieved conventions of a genre, whats to stop the inevitable distilation of that style down into a kind of parody?
