Thanks Mr. Face. Yes it is handcut. It is a handcut foam/rubber plate mounted on wood and printed on a proof press. Sort of an experimental process I've been working with. It forces you to keep things simple.
I didn't intentionally try to make it look like Hatch. But hey, it's big wood type. What are you gonna do? Now all wood type overprints look like Hatch. I guess they own that. Maybe the pig adds to the "Hatchness", I dunno. I had fun making it.
Nolen, yep, inked 'em by hand. Only did 25. I don't mind the time it takes, it keeps me off the computer. I don't sleep musch anyway. The type is lead. The Red is a linoleum block, and the image is a turpentine transfer. The pressure from the press transfers the image to paper. That's why I usually make the design so simple, because the process is a little complicated.
No, it's nothing new. Just a simple poster for some very simple musicians. The bottle image is actually much darker than this picture. Printed on an old Vandercook proof press. Thanks for the feedback.
