Check out what I found on my semi retired dope tray. Sorry it's a dirty scan. Got some "stuff" on it but it's been there laminated and scraping for a few years. This was my first attempt at promoting a rock show back in 89 or 90. An old buddy of mine did this with me. What a rip off we were:
Yep '99. Can you beleive it? You asked me if I knew any clubs needing work and I didn't have a clue. I had no idea this would get here. I was happy with the first nice comment from Nolen and woulda stayed that way if that's all I ever saw for any of it. Seriously nice to see our stuff is liked. We really try.
I think my work has gotten better as a direct result of being on Gigposters. Prior to this I had a handful of people seeing my/our stuff and only had Jeff K and Art to compare my personal style to. Figuring I'll never catch those guys I kinda just did what I could bang out the quickest and still not suck too bad. Now after seeing Methane, AA, Lure, Thomas Scott....the list goes on, I am driven to keep getting better. My own partners kick my ass all the time so I got it coming both directions. It's a GOOD pressure though. Makes me think like I never have, makes me look harder for the original concept.
Stuff I heard Art lecture on about creating out of multiple sources to have your own was really eye opening. I don't have patience to do a sweet vine poster like Kozik or Illo like Jermaine. I'll always have the highest respect for that skill and focus. Just not my current style. Maybe someday, I gots plenty in my bean. It's too easy to swipe a pic , obscure or not, and make it new. This site and this level of exposure to crit is simply driving me to try harder. We'll see. Like I said before I feel I have a long ways to go and all the kind words are really inspiring. Even if it's lousy old Frank... :-p
