Nice MIke. Well Deserved. And there's a way to stretch type with out stretching it's called Kerning. Fills space and keeps the integrity of the font. All those yokels posting below are crackheads especially Jermaine. Sweet ass poster amigo.
Man it's tough ain't it? Those punks at Aesthetic Apparatus are so good at two colour. I've been making a real effort to be successful with no more than two and it's just not that easy. Once I'm comfotable with two I wanna start messing with process but from a screen print not an offset. AA's Superdrag poster is the shit and it's four colour process hand screened. They really know how to use a simple pallet and get tons of colour with overlays. Is this screened? Like I said it rules either way....
I know what you mean about slaving over type. We all do. I have a Rev. Horton Heat poster here under Studio 709 that we spent two hours dicking with the numbers for the date alone. Jason spent an eternity witht the type on the Stereolab and most people might not even notice but that guy has an eagle eye for detail. He'll kill you if typography is wonky. It's a good thing.
Clients are a pain in the ass. So far as Factor27 we've had one poster rejected and in retrospect it made us try so much harder that the second one kicked the shit outta the first. And I liked the first ALOT. Jason and Clay worked on an idea that was very similar to the feel of this. A middrift and a plaid skirt but if you look at the Plaid poster that ended up getting the green light it came out awesome.
And I take back the "only one rejected" comment I just had one rejected by THE BAND I MANAGE!! ungrateful jerks. It also eneded up OK because I'm gonna use it for The Doves show for Philaarts. It's more fitting for The Doves anyway. Funny thing is I told the singer who rejected it I didn't have time to make another so he went to OFFICE MAX and used their old school typewriter and xeroxed a poster that I think rules. Maybe I'll post it up with our crap if the other guys don't care.
I'm sure we will have plenty of rejects coming our way if we stick it out.
Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense too after I looked at the rest of the stuf f you posted. You have some OLD school bands on these posters. Really surprised to see Hater on the other ones. Interesting adding that to posters, don't think I've ever seen that for a live show. Great poster either way. Cool colours.
Yep. It was like 4 AM and everyone at the party was practically on their ass drunk and they kicked it out. Pretty good renditions too. The guitar player had Angus down. Non stop head bob, school boy outfit , SG, everything. Seems she had blond dre4adlocks though. Like I said we were shitfaced. Did they just break up?
I dig this poster but what the hell kinda show is it advertising? There's at least eight bands listed at the bottom that are broken up and two with dead guys. Is it some kinda tribute deal? Look it says Peral Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, The Hives, Pixies, At the drive in, Sonic Youth, Sunny Day RealEstate, Alice In Chains, Thursday (?), The Vines, Radiohead, The Get Up Kids, Mudhoney, Failure, Mogwai, Seaweed, The Markers (?), Supersuckers. Date of show looks like 8/17/02
