Tell ya what richie, I'll screen all the elements except the thread and have them all waiting. When you and yer girlfriends fisher and murphy get to Austin we'lll have a sewing circle and put it all together. Deal?
Jermaine you are dead on. Since I manage Moonlight Towers I did this as an experiment in underprinting knowing I didn't have a promoter to please. (However Philip at The Mercury is a huge supporter of art being part of promotion.) This version was for the band members. We did an alternate version to promote the show that, while utlitarian, was not as interesting. It was a very small run too and these bands don't carry an aftermarket value so I wasn't expecting to sell any. I gave away almost the entire run at the show. What did come of this is the other two bands who had not seen our work flipped out and will be coming to us for future jobs.
yep some elements are sewn. The godspeed was printed out , cut out and sewn to the mary statue pic which was printed and torn up. then that was scanned. That was printed again and GW was printed, torn up and sewn to that sheet. That was scanned. The you black emperor was sewn to a sheet of paper then scanned and added. the brown background was a found piece of grocery sack which was scanned and the whole thing put together. Then the show info text was printed and scanned over and over to distress and viola! right now it's 11x17 but I'm working on an interesting way to screen print it and keep some of the 3-d elements.
It's looks almost totally black in person. Supposed to look like little floating orbs until you get up close. When the light hits it all the info and the image pops. I had to lightenthe jpeg because you really have to work to see it. We made plain B&W flyers as well. This is two colour yellow under black. They are 20 x 20 on 100lb cover.
