Ah Art you are a funny man. I didn't bring any of this up nor did anyone from Austin. Believe it or not we ALL get along down here and support each other regularly. Freaky huh?
You are asking lots of questions and I am answering them. I moved on two years ago. I'm not thin skinned nor holding any kinda petty grudge. The only reason anyone is discussing this still is because of you. It's like you intentionally feel the need to dredge something up that is way in the past. I could give a shit who's wronged you so why do you feel the need to bring that up? Is this a thinly veiled way of dragging your issues to the forefront?
"well now that you Austin guys are bagging Jason let me tell you a few stories."
In reality you are the the instigator of all of this today and for what? Leave Jason Austin outta it. He's a good enough guy just has some tough times. Take your personal bitch to the people you have the bitch with, few here care.
This is the first or second poster I did with Jason. I picked the typeface. Jason had the imagery and an idea where to take the design. Scanned the image and I dropped the type in photoshop. Printed it and since Jason at that point did not trust computers he took the print to kinkos, copied it and cut it up and reset it much like the printout. He screened it. That's the story. It's a badass poster in person. Big, chipboard and colourful. This digital photo I took is pretty close but it really pops.
No Cold War here Art. You seem to be the most fired up guy about the whole deal. There's more to the relationship than credit on posters but that doesn't belong here. Suffice it to say Jason has made a lot of great posters with help in many ways from a lot of people.
Art, You are interpreting a few things about some specific posters here and applying them to his whole catalogue. I don't know how many people are pissed at Jason or if anyone is. He has a very lackadaisical way about going about business and it's caused him problems. I personally am not pissed at him I actually like him as a person I just can't work with him. Our work styles don't mix. And that is not Design Styles it's work styles. I can point out every poster on here that I worked on with Jason. I can tell you what I did and what he did. The only thing is at some point in our working relationship it became very mutual in shared workload and credit stayed as Jason Austin. I should have spoken up sooner and let him know it was time to put dual credit on the posters. By the time we settled on Studio 709 we made about four posters and it got too strained to carry on. Simple as that. He and I really are the only ones who know any detail on which posters were made by whom during the year and a half I worked with him. Nobody else making comments knows exactly. Maybe part of it but not exactly.
Jason does amazing work but there's no more to the story than this right here. No need to dig further. I'm grateful to him for re-igniting my desire to make posters and I've moved on. If anyone else has issues I am not aware of it in any detail.
Currently I think he's doing some interesting stuff with photography and not doing posters at all.
