why spend money to promote another band you ask?
cause it's the other band that is getting them the exposure in the first place by having them on the tour..
a good support slot for a smaller band can be the difference between playing for a couple dozen and a couple thousand people.
ain't nothing wrong with having everyone's name the same size...
hey i don't wanna speak for anyone other than myself. perhaps liars are thrilled ? who knows.
i just feel in general this is kinda weird.
i know if my own band were asked to tour as a support act for a larger band i wouldn't imagine doing a poster with our own name larger and an image relating to us because i would feel that it might be discourteous .
but heck even if my band were headling i wouldn't put our name bigger cause i'm not into making it a contest.
it is quite possible that i'm just neurotic.
and i don't wanna seem like i'm being picky , i just actually enjoy talking about this stuff.
i also think the politics for a tour poster and a show poster are different for this kind of thing.
i personally feel that if you are a smaller band , invited as a support act on a tour that having posters made where you are top dog risks to step on toes.
see i could never imagine doing that. seems to me that a band could burn some bridges that way.
yannick and i only give top billing to our band on a poster if we are indeed headlining. often the bands we open for end up being clients , seems like we'd be shooting ourselves in the both both for our band and for seripop if we were to do that.
i know that if a support act we were bringing on tour would do something like this , me and my bandmates would be slightly put off.
