well as someone who gets excited to see new stuff
who thinks it's awesome that so many people do this poster making thing i find this situation very depressing.
no pm i'm not worried i'll get shut out
most of the bands i do stuff for i know personally
they are friends, peoole i've tourdded with in the past
i'm on pretty good terms with all the labels owners who put out the stuff i like that i would wanna do stuff for
what i'm worried about is that this makes it IMPOSSIBLE for someone starting out without tons of connections in the music scene
i'm also worried when the after market sales become more important than the show
and seriously as someone who worked as a club promoter for years i'd laugh in the face of a deal like this.
yeah kev
at least they picked a sucky band.
for now.
tomorrow who knows.
could be that all the bands u or i like get exclusive deals with older, kore established artists who don't even own thier records.
this doesn'tr strike me as honest at all.
nor does it strike me as good for evolution of an art movement.
it actually seems greedy and abit paranoid
this end of gig posters makes me sick.
the thing that i tthink is great about show posters is that it's wide open. anyone can do it.
this kinda thing will prevent that and posters in general will stagnate.
exclusive deals, selling more posters than are actually hung..
it rings very false.
and it REALLY sucks that it';s comming from jermaine who waxes poetic about "community" endlessly.
i really hope people ingnore deal like this and just keep doing posters for the bands they like regardless.
today i've lot abit of faith and abit of respect.
nice movement, great community.
