i think poster mistress called it right. what we really need is some constructive crits. so, for what it's worth, here are mine:
*color: there is definetly too much going on. keep it simple. check out the book 'designers guide to color combinations' by leslie barga. good shit and easy to follow.
*layout: it's a bit bland and loses focus on what are the main focuses. also the 'dk' logo and type on the tombstone just seems 'slapped on' and is distracting. check out this site for some simple yet amazing ideas in layout.
*concept: not bad but you definetly hit on all the 'return of the living dead' stereo-types. i think a fun one would have been to make zombie-girl into a gravedigger/graverobber.
* i hope you take this all in the right way brutefish and keep posting. i'd dig to see your progress.
mr frumpy* if anyone else cares the site is:
it is definetly 'comic book' heavy but i think there is an amazing amount that artists from this site could learn about illustration, anatomy; design and thinking outside 'the box'.. on the oppisite end i know that artists from that site could learn an amazing amount from us about layout, design and thinking outside 'the box'....mabey the sites aren't identical but they are definetly fraternal evil twins.
bopst* i'm still convinced that max fliesher lays inbetween dali and warhol in the greatest artists of the 20th century.
thanks negro* 'betty never looked so sexy'.... i tried everything in my power for her NOT to be 'BETTY' but i wanted her to be vaguely-multi-racial and still keep the style of the time so....everyone sees 'betty'. as long as i got the 'feel' down and don't get sued by 'the mouse' i'm happy. i hope (eek-a-)mouse likes it.
