left handed* it was bizarre. the original menu ( that i was given ) was layed out in the generic 'up-scale asian' style but.....80% of the menu items were semi-common mexican and/or spanish cuisine. the other 20% ran the gamut of ethiopian vegan to all-fat german ( with one or two madarin chinese tossed in for good measure). this funky concept might have worked but.....the restaraunt was 2blocks off the main strip in the middle of a residencial street with only 3.5 parking spaces.......?
this was a weird one. originally the design was a ruff draft of a menu design for a mexican restaraunt with an asian decor....don't ask. i wanted to do something different for mr winter than a usual portrait/charactuer ( altho a screen printed 'white-on-white' was definetly in mind).....somehow i just thought this design fit. dunno.
thanks schizo* i've been really blessed to get swamped with work in the last few months. i've had to switch to 'think less and just do' when it comes to posters. as a result the art has taken on a life of it's own and dictated the final direction instead of sticking to the original blueprint.
silver* thanks. the aomr cover has definetly been an interesting and chaotic journey. the only thing that i'm a little disapointed in is that i wanted the background to be a tone-on-tone collage of a multitude of other people's posters ( similar to what they did with 'electric frankenstien'). that idea got shot down early but ( and i kno some people won't believe me ) every time i sent in a revision i sent a second copy with the collage background ( to be repeatedly reminded that idea had been rejected). oh well.....from what i've seen the book looks inconcievably good! here's to oct 1!
thanks 7teen* this is one of my favorites of the last batch. i've decided to avoid using any images of johnny cash and focus more on what his mythical 'bastard son' would be like. i did a memorial last time using johnny....i think it's time to move on.
