it's a combination of sheer history combined with the complete disregard for the preciousness of the object. this was never meant to be more than crap adverts to speak to other punks. straight people were supposed to turn away from this. they were meant o offend the sensibility of 99% of the population and keep them away - yet speak directly to the ideas of the crowd desired. language. most old punks are still chocked that anybody thinks those handbills and posters are collected. they were total "instant little". rubbish. period. and they still survive with such power. they look so immmediate and so great. this was when devo were still scary and unnerving. '77? '78? back when the ramones were considered threatening, rather than cute.
they're completely unlike any rock poster since the advent of hippies, when posted became precious little jack off objects of desire. i like posters that were never meant to be more than trash advertising.
