justin - remember how everybody though that mudhoney or tad were gonna be huge - the next big thing? or maybe motherlovebone would finally get their record done? everybody had already given up on soundgarden as another heavy metal wannabe.
funny how things end up working out so completely differently.
you're so upset that you're going to think whatever makes you feel better no matter what i say or how i try to explain it to you.
and ya know what? i know EXACTLY how you feel. when i first came on this site, i was challenged much harsher than i challenged you (or even how you're dismissing me right now), and i was hurt bad. i still get upset when i think about it. but i learned and coped and tried to grow. i suggest you do the same.
and quit saying somebody's work sucks and that people who differ from you are ol' art fags, unless you want to experience this again.
i was not 'raggin' on you and being high and mighty or whatever you seem to think. i was flipping some shit/humor back at you because i thought you were being a dick to my dear friend hank. if you go back and read (like you insisted) you'll see this clearly. you obviously hate being flipped shit at - and just maybe other people don't like it either when you flip shit at them. just look at your pissy defensive stance right now. i obviously upset you. well, maybe you upset a few people too. sure, you were "funny" but so was i. but you felt otherwise.
i repeat = you can pitch, but you can't catch.
now, get used to it, or quit being a dick. i had to.
wherever you live now, start working on getting creative people (of all concievable stripes) together socially and start your own 'cultural revolution'. seattle taught me that it really can happened in your own backyard. you just have to have community (at least at first) and a sense of working toward a common goal - whatever that may be - FUN?
don't kick yourself. like all 'cultural explosions' like that, by the time you heard about it, it was already over. you would have moved there and found a new form of hell brewing. you would have been miserable. everybody else was.
is it all a matter of taste? i can certainly see harry not going for this - his style is almost the polar opposite. seripop is a little closer srtylistically. me, i've actually done work that looks like this, albeit in the early 80's (some editorial illustrations about death. death is always funny, ain't it?)
i gotta say, i DO HONESTLY like this. i'm not just being contrary.
