oh, and to that list of real early postermaker bands doing classic punk posters in seattle circa 75-75 was the mentors. not many people realize they were a seattle band. they had to move on quickly as their 'rape rock' posters really freaked out the pc-seattle hippies.
1977. this is not the earliest punk poster from seattle - i found cut-n-paste 'jamie reid' style punk posters in seattle as far back as 1972 for the whiz kidz, but for 'classic' punk they began in earnest about 76 with bands forming like the tupperwares (later the screamers), the lewd (later moved to sf), the feelings (whose lead singer guy lost it , became a street geek and died quickly), and the telepaths (later the blackouts and eventually ministry).
this poster was big and blue with white type on very heavy stock. it looks kinda boring and 'professional' now, but back then it really freaked everybody out. don't forget this was the year saturday night fever was released. same with star wars. this looked pretty damned crazy back then.
this poster was a fkae put up around seattle to poke fun at punks and their scrappy posters, etc. they guy on the poster was some sort a poseur guy well known in toen, i guess. totally anonymous, half the band names are fakes.
years later i found out that this was hoaxed by eric flanegan, who is now the editor of ice.
