phill - if 'artists' didn't break the rules - ther would never have been punk. and if artists don't break their own rules, we'd all be peter max or leroy nieman or patrick nagel - exquisitely made but dull as lead.
i don't deny the right of somebody to do this poster, i just want it known that i think it's a pretty stupid poster with little interesting thought being put into it. that's fair, right?
well, hell. i steal artwork, too, if you want to get technical about it. but at least i try to re-interperate it into some sort of comment or snide juxtaposition or something. but this is not even clever or anything. it's just blind stupid.
i'm extremely happy that jerome is finally putting some of his work up here. of all the poster people i've found in st. louis, this guy's work is the most enjoyable and together. he's done comics and zines for years and runs a website about the history of st. louis punk (called stlpunk.com) among other things. he edited an anthology of comic artists called 'bogus dead' that i worked on the cover. i met him in a coffe shop where he was drawing some of his stuff to entertain his daughter, violet. great guy, great work. i hope he posts a ton of his crap up here.
