they were not too happy, as i understand. at the time, i knew nothing about them and this poster began life as a rejectd t-shirt design (believe it or not.) so, i made it a rock poster. since it was in a weird format that allowed strange varitions on postering (that magazine thing) i went with my whim to see what it would look like. essentially bad concepting, interesting design and a mixed result at best.
harry - actually i'm not worried at all about trash culture. it was trash from the begining - should i worry about becoming trash? makes no sense.
i was more worried about the homogeny of style. just look at this site. the ones that seems to stand out and demand commentary and attention seem to be those folks working in other styles for the large part. maybe trashola really has passed as an interesting source of ideas? dunno. time will tell.
howcum i always have to start my comments with an explanation of my last comment? every time i say something, it gets taken to extremes. really, i don't care that much, honest. i'm just sharing thoughts. that's all.
harry, i didn't say you were bad mouthing me. i was saying bad mouthing seems to be the appropriate rsponse to anything around here. but i must say, i really WAS afraid you'd sic the swiss army on me for saying something nasty about that country. they get really pissy real fast if you don't agree with them that switzerland is the center of western civilization and all.
my remark is NOT an objection to the swiss capitalizing or even admiring american trashola, but a lament on the fact that it has no meaning anymore. they can have the creature rom the black lagoon, surfing, the wolfman, the bride of frankenstein, vampirella, elvis movies, rockabilly, ukeleles, masked wrestlers, cheezy djs, etc.etc. because EVERYBODY has that stuff now. it seems to have not much of anything to do with US anymore, ya know? i imagine it's even hot in mongolia.
so, what's the point of that stuff anymore? i guess that's the question i'm tempted to ask.
