yeah, dave has. i did post one - it should be listed under his name, but i haven't checked on whether it worked.
he's done lots of stuff (like he designed the newest immortal lee county killers cd/lp cover. it looks great!). he's actually extremely good, but he thinks he's second rate and shies away from it. he probably could have done well as a designer, actually.
yer flesh: strangely peter davis started out in seattle. he used to hang out with the holy war cadets (i believe) and knew maire masco, dennis white, etc.pretty well. he went to a LOT of the shows i was posting flyers for. played in a band, too. i think he met hazelmeyer in seattle when he was so much involved - amrep started in oak harbor, north of seattle where haze was stationed in the military. later on haze played (for awhile) in the u-men, even. i believe he actually recorded with them.
as for fantagraphics, like alt music, alt comics had it's peak in the mid nineties. then the bubble burts and it went back to basics as before. they began to mare more monry fromthe durty comics than the alt comix. survival won out and they still struggle. pete bagge kept trying to get a motion picture deal, but they always fell through. i think maybe he had bad representation or something would be my guess.
the link bewteen alt comics and alt music began to happen because o the close physical proximity of bruce pavitt, the rocket (and their legion of comic artists), and fantagraphics physically moving to seattle at just the right time. everybody was into what everybody else was doing, so it came a long natuarally. it also helped that fantagraphics employed an awful lot of otherwise unemployable musicians. their warehouse staff was legendary.
frank - i simply share observation and experience with folks here. i'm not trying to manipulate and cheerlead (like you). i tell what happened. this stuff happens to everybody, but i've been doing this much longer than most of these folks, so i have more stories, that's all. sharing experience can actually be sharing knowledge. if there is a negative experience, then accept it as such. nothing more, nothing less.
it's a little know fact of science that there is some sorta of larvae in the nyc drinking water that burrows into the brains of those people who drink and turn them into new yorkers. it's true. last time i went there, i got infected, too! it took many months of gigposters to kick that crap out of me.
thanks for the cheap shot frank. damn! you are the master!
i got along fine with people in seattle - i lived there for 46 years. it's people who played dirty with me and shafted me (one time, my fault - ten times, i start to get pissed) that i decided not to get along with.
if you knew my history that would be apparent to you, but you crack wise instead.
