this stuff is really classic acid art stuff. this is essentially where all those psych artists like griffin and the like (not mouse or moscosso) started off. in facrt the very first psych poster looked a lot like this (by george hunter).
basically, it's this sort of free scrawll style that created rock posters as we know them today. strange, huh?
we should be kind to this stuff. and you have to admit they make a REALLY INTERESTING texture when placed all together like this.
this poster was done by greg just to try to get in the door with the walkabouts (who were sort of 'folk rock' sounding). i think he wanted to be involved as a 'friend of the band' more than anything. 'art' was just his way of getting in. i think the band were just being nice to him and he was a weirdo hassling them - which was the ususal scenario. nothing came of it.
anyway, i'm certain that this is the only thing he ever did that had anything to do with the walkabouts. he was always hustling me at the rocket and as an associate of sub pop. i imagine he took this to subpop and wanted to do covers. i can only imagine bruce's reaction if he did...
i wonder what he's doing now?
(you could possible read that last question as a drug refernce. heh)
gerg was this old stupid stoned hippie dude (with short hair and a big belly) who wanted to be a 'psychedelic artist'. he would call me up and 'discuss' how do do art. basically he would ask for advice and argue with everything i said (like basic technology on how to get things printed). he apparently just wanted me to extoll his genius, not give him tips on how to actually print his drawings.
anyway, he was in interstellar observatory and kuli loach. really baaaad bands. terrible.
supposedly, according to vampira, jimmy was over at her house one night (they'd been out cruising guys). they were smoking lotsa pot laying around on her black velvet bed with the wrought iron bedframe in the black bedroom with all of the candles , etc. (vampira really bought the whole schtick) and had some sort of argument (over sex or something). so, after he left, she put a 'curse' on him (complete with candles and torn photos and spells and the whole shebang.) the next day he died in his wreck.
