i love stuff like this. i think this is great. the only thing that's hurting is reproduction quality.
now, imagine this thing silkscreened. white paper. colored type. a big blotch of strange color field behind the image. line drawing printed (dirt and all) in dark red against a bright yellow field. type is, what? dark forest green maybe? the lower type is black maybe?
ok, since you guys all seem to think i was being arrogant and trite with my comments, i'll be a little more direct here.
this poster really hits what you're looking for, but i don't think you quite realize what it is (or that you were looking for it). the thing that really resonates strongly with this one is that this is the first poster you've done that really emotes - it has a HUMAN connection. your other work all seems like disconnected academic exploratory style commentary. this one has feeling.
this image was attractive to you, it's antiquity, the expressions, the damage, and even your type treatment tells me that you saw what was good in this thing.
so, if you stop and think about actually connecting with the feelings of the viewer for a while, i think your work from this point on will take a quantum leap in quality. just stopping to think about it may be all you need to do.
