i was trying to "fake jack kirby" with this. actually, i used to be able to draw rather nicely (don't forget i was an art student with many hours of classes under my belt). but this is still not a very good drawing, for my tastes.
i don't think i've really sat down and drawn anything in almost 20 years. and yet, i became a well-known graphic designer.
how can that be?
i approach design as an assemblage medium, not a drawing medium. we assemble posters with a printing press, not draw then by hand. at least that's how i've figgered things.
sorry, but this is the famous illustration gary panter did of tomata duplenty for the screamers back in about 76-77. whoever copped it for this poster even blacked-out panter's signature in the corner.
