pettibon(e) is a really big name in the art world now, doing images remarkable similar, but more obtuse then, these posters. he's had one-man exhibits in major museums and has been shown in the whitney and the museum of modern art. i assume he's in the collections of all of the big institutions. very high level career. he's doing extremely well.
and, yup, he's greg ginn's brother (or something), so far as i know. and i think "pettibon(e)" is some sort of family name.
well, i guess if you examoine it closely enough, this is actually a GIGPOSTER, not a movie promotional poster. if you dig out a magnifying glass, you can spot a band's name at the very bottom of the piece.
and you HAVE to promote a gig in advance, so this makes perfect sense to me.
it's very strange to be working on a project and then have something like this pop up here. we've been feverishly working on the movie poster for this film (it's a really great movie. definitley go see it). we've been on a tight deadline to get the thing out in time for the premiere (oct. 30th). it's the official film poster, printed in a big offset run. lotta work.
then i check out gp and see this (rather nice) poster. it confuces me when this happens. i really have no idea how to react. so, i guess i'll just shrug it off an keep going. but i really don't get why this poster exists.
i find i have to shrug off an awful lot on this site. but i do keep going.
