this was inspired by jamie reid's "nowhere buses" that were for the sex pistols' "pretty vacant" release. in actuality, the buses he used were taken from earlier situationist garphics he did that were used in paris and london in the sixties (and later san francisco in the 70's). they sort of represented a world/establishment/culture going nowhere as slow as possible (and you have to pay the fare). malcolm mclaren (another old situationist buddy of jamie's from the paris days) hired him to adapt the old situationst graphics to the idea of a happy little pop band out to destroy the world.
i like the power of it. i like the confusion of the imagery ( i felt i was patching the holes in her face, but everybody else finds it violent mysogeny). i like the color contrasts. i like the found art (with the hole already cut out). i like the bands involved (who absolutely loved this thing). i like the overall centraized design and the experince of having it come together in my hands at the time (it flowed nicely). i like it on quite a few levels both designe and personal.
