fanny. i'll be damned. they were a great all-woman band. "charity ball" was a great single. june millington was a great guitarist. but, the world wasn't ready yet for girls who could rock. that took another ten years. fanny was great when the runaways were still in diapers buying suzy quatro records.
rush? with a name like that, they're probably still a warm-up act. am i right?
nah. the zodiac's logo was a standard crosshairs - like a registration mark. he apparently lifted the logo AND his name from zodiac watches (which had the logo on it's face), which were really popular watches back in that time period. i remember how everybody had to have a zodiac watch in high school (which was that period for me). they were sorta the swatch of then.
i never made the zodiac watch connection until i read that book about him. dang, zodiac is the patron saint serial killer of graphic designers. the guy knew his graphics.
by the way, that famous circle jerks logo was done by shawn kerri, right?
ya know, the more i see this thing, the more i kinda get into the rythm of it. it has a steady staccato beat built into it that really works well.
at first i thought it was terrible, but as time went on it felt pretty good. i wouldn't mind having a copy of this on my wall - especially if it was all beat up and weathered like it was really used on a telephone pole. that would be pretty nice.
