I've always liked the idea of having dates on poster pages.

bumping a related old thread for the heck of it:

Clay, have you ever considered adding keyword tagging to the posters? something that could be edited/policed by premium members? it could be a way to incorporate all these mentions of year, medium, etc, along with broader descriptions (parody, kneeling skeleton, birds, black and white, punk, etc).

while there is easily room for it to be abused, at least you could hold premium members responsible. (or maybe just have a big pre-determined list of keywords to choose from, like the classifieds?) possible downside - i assume this would bog down the system in some technical way i don't understand.

I like the idea, but I think it would have to be more limited than premium members. Anyone can become a premium member. But then if you limit the police squad, it becomes a lot of work for a few people.

definitely only allow the person that uploaded the poster / the designer to add / edit tags. but still, I guess an approval process will be necessary. I like it, how it's handled at bandjob.com.

right, but trusting the community is good for the community. plus, someone would need to have the ability to tag the 120,700-odd posters already here, not just new arrivals. plus, a premium member's actions could be trackable, thus discouraging TOMFOOLERY.
