P.s.--webhosting --got it already. Flickr--maybe. I don't like their default sizes, nor do I like the div=ids they've chosen for their "blog this" functionality, but maybe. Imageshack--maybe. I'll probably just stick 'em on the server and build/find some kind of ajaxy front end for it.

youll care more about copyrights when your work is all over american eagle and urban outfitters tshirts without your permission, and you can barely make rent.

    Urban Counterfitters/American Eagle--you're absolutely right.

But Fffound? There is the concept of free use which states an exception exists if:
the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes
Fffound, to me at least, falls directly under nonprofit educational purposes. It's a tool for cataloging images that you find inspiring as an artist. Also, there was a federal court case in 2002 or 03 that determined that the linking of small, web-resolution images falls under fair use--Google Image Search.

I dig copyright, I just think it's gotten out of hand. As of a couple of years ago it's illegal to use any previously published bit of sound for any amount of time whatsoever and republish it as your own. If that crap were ever enforced my electronic music obsession would be dealt a serious blow.

What makes you think it's a non-profit site? I see advertising and links to merchendise sales on there. I never heard of fffound before now - so I don't know.

I thought I had read somewhere that advertising just covers their hosting, but I could be wrong.

Also, fffound doesn't hotlink--so it's not eating bandwidth. The images are uploaded to fffound by community posters, along with a link to the actual image location. That's cool, but means the second exception I mentioned, "indexing" small images by hotlinking to them, doesn't apply.

They, like other sites that are user-managed like Flickr, claim that copyright infringement lies on the shoulders of the user that posted the image, not fffound, which is simply a forum for the posting of images. If you file a complaint, they just forward the user's email address for you to contact them. I give up-shit's too complicated.

Sorry to go long--but I just saw this while trying to decipher the mystery that is fffound.

My brain wants to have sex with that.

p.s.--I think Fffound is japanese, if so it falls under international copyright treaties which is even weirder in respects to the internet.

Justin-thanks for the suggestion! I'm either going to do that or just host on the site's server itself. Imageshack is dope.

I'm singing that piece of sheet music right now! It sounds like :::cccrrrshhshshsh:: ::beepbeep::
