i'd join, but i can see a case where about 90% of the conversations are moved to the premium area, even if they're valid topics for the main forum just because that's where the more active chatters are used to going. It'd make the site seem like not a whole lot is going on and the people that just stumble upon this site might miss out on useful stuff.

I don't think so. People will still ask poster-related questions in the forums .. and everyone will still participate there.

The chat / cams are much more handy for meetings, free multi-user video conferencing etc.

Forums should still be the place for important discussions with a permanent record on GP. Know what I mean?
