    Default new platform for browsing

The only way to browse posters other than the new arrivals is by design name and band name? It would be nice if designers could add metadata to their posters, such as any of the info communicated on the actual poster, how many colors, type of tools used. Also if the designers could add "tags" to their posters that describe it, such as... rock, alternative, chicago, band name, venue... All this information would categorize posters and would be searchable.
So if you wanted to look at only posters printed in 2 colors, in chicago, and pertaining to rock...

Location and venue will be searchable soon. Its coming up soon on my to-do list.

I have no desire to categorize posters by genre.

I might add printing details in the future, but that won't be for a while.

I think it would be an improvement. I remember seeing a poster I liked on here the other day browsing "new arrivals", now its no longer a "new arrival" and I have no idea how to find it now. yea yea yea... bookmark it, write down designer/band name, as I'm sure you know its not that easy when your casually browsing; maybe there is a mental image of a poster you weren't really sure about, but now you'd like to go back and look at it... but how? hmm... It had a blues lounge feel, it was 2 colors, it was in new orleans?

Oh .. I plan on coding in a favorites system too real soon. Now that the forums are upgraded .. this should be much easier for me to accomplish.

I've been a silent observer of this site for about 2 years now, and I think I may have only posted one or two things before, so I know I'm not a forum regular, but I'd like to add my two cents if that's okay!

I know that having meta data/tags kind of thing would be a pain, but I'd really like to second this thread. I may be in the minority, but I don't come on here to see the posters for specific bands. Specific designers, yes, but I end up falling into the pithole of only paying attention to the people I've already been paying attention to, because there's no good way to "browse" the artwork as artwork, and not the byproduct of a designer or band. I have been wishing for a long time that there was some alternative ways to explore the artwork as individual entities, and not explore designers or bands, if that makes any sense.

While I do appreciate that you're taking the time to add location and venue, they won't really do much for me either (though as a web developer I completely recognize the amount of time it takes to even add these seemingly-small features)...when I come on here I'm looking more to find great new artists and people who are doing something new and interesting, or related to styles that I like. I'd love to be able to browse by some combination of a rating system (be able to rate on a 5 or 10 point scale in addition to the comments) and/or genre and/or tools used, etc. etc.

I'm wondering, though, Clay - why you see no desire to add additional classification on the art as opposed to the show itself? Not to insinuate that you're not valid or something, I'm just curious - is it because more people use this site to look for posters of bands or designers they already know, rather than a tool to do a lot of discovering? Or the added complication of implementing those things?

    Just my thoughts!

    Thanks!

I think that would be the feature I'd use the most. The ability to filter out flyers/xerox's and shit would be rad -- to the extent that you could even filter new submissions.

    my idea?

give registered users the possibility to 'track' say 10 of their favourite artists in a way they get update messages if they have new submissions. the option to filter out the xeroxed cut and paste flyers jobs would be great.
additionally, i'd suggest sorting posters for a band to artist, in stead of the it is now (i think) to submission date. maybe using some pulldowns. a second option to view an artists portfolio would be good too, smaller thumbnails in a list view or something?

just sprayin ..i dont feel like workin.
