Question For Designers

Here's what I'm thinking.

I'm thinking of building in some advanced features to gigposters.com for the benefits of the designers.

Basically, I'm thinking of charging a small fee to designers who want extra features. It is becoming more and more necessary for me to find additional ways to fund this website .. as I am getting more and more broke dedicating most of my time working on and maintaining this website.

Now, I'm not looking to force any charges on anyone .. and I'm not trying to rip anyone off. What I'm saying .. is that I'm willing to put in some serious time and effort to build in some advanced features that YOU (the designer) would be willing to pay for. I want this to help you.

So .. I would like to use this thread to get your feedback, ideas, opinions etc. on what I can do to make additional features that would benefit you.

Please brainstorm below ... and feel free to totally cut down this idea if you are against it. Be honest ... and lets see how this goes.

A few of my ideas (possibilities):

- designer recognition in the forums (linking to your posters)
- advanced bio that can be used in some sort of random (designer of the week or featured designer section)
- additional information and control over your posters
- the ability to include your gigposters.com posters on your own website
- advanced submission form (less steps)
- perhaps an additional section for non-gigposter art to showcase your other work?

(these are just a few ideas I can think of at the moment. Please take a moment and think about this and post your ideas)

i think its high time you charge anyway for all the work you put into this

the additional section for non-gig art would be something i would pay extra for. wouldn't even hesitate.

i don't think submitting a poster is all that involved, so don't think you should spend a lot of time trying to cut down 1 or 2 steps.

also, i know you're not a fan of this idea, but put the donation bucket on the front page again.

I like the advanced control over my posters stuff. Advanced bio too.

Spotlighting a designer would be kinda cool too.

I do think the site should remain directed towards just gigposters, even though we're always posting non-gigposter work in thr forums.

could be a simple forward or a whole seperate interface.

I just wonder how you could achieve these features....

there is a non-gigposter art thread that is used every day already for free....

people link to their posters in their signatures already....

i definitely think you need to get paid somehow....

my problem with my site is i never have time to updaye it while all my current stuff is here on GP

is there a way to just pull the posters with out the gp interface?

that non-gigposter thread is a little tough to get through, though. lots of great stuff on there, but i'm not going to dig through 40 pages of art to find that print that i liked that someone did.
