comments on posters - main page

DaveGink has a good point there. If you log on to the site only periodically then it would be nice to have a few day's worth of forum updates and comment updates. The scroll bars would them be a nice option. I know that some sites have a preference setting where you can select how many day's you want to see.

I 'could' do this.. but the scroll bars would ONLY work in Internet Explorer. Netscape users would get an error.

Yup .. I have a problem with that.. I want the site to look good for all.

I think if I make a seeperate page, like I was saying.. this would solve your problem in a different way. Maybe I'll just make it and you guys will see what I mean.. hopefully I can do it this weekend..

just one more suggestion,at the moment u can only see the last 10 or so comments,i think it'd be cool if u could see more of the recent comments in the same way that u can see more of the new arrivals. as the site gets more popular there are more and more people commenting on the posters so if u dont log on for a day or two,or even,at this rate,a few hours,u could easily miss seeing some of the latest comments,so maybe if there was a page with the latest 30 or 40 comments for example,no one would miss out on what our ever increasing community of artists and enthusiasts are saying about our beloved artform,see what i mean??

OK .. I've created a comments page.. just an idea.. there is a link to it right at the bottom of the comments section on the main page. Please let me know what you think .. I'm open to suggestions.

Because there are so many comments, I had to limit it to 3 days, or it was bringing back too much stuff..

Thanks for the work you put into this. One thing that I notice is that when you have a 'controversial' poster it will take up a lot of the pages. Look at the Strokes poster with it's 85 messages (and counting). Would it be possible to only show the most recent comment for the Strokes poster rather then each and every one of them and add a 'number of comments' counter next to it? I am not sure if I have the patience to look through 48 pages of comments and see that Strokes poster come by a few dozen times
