There might be a large base for movie poster collecting, but there isn't that many good movie posters being made any more. At least not in the abundance of interesting gigposters or album covers. I can think of a lot of new record covers I've seen in the past few months that really impressed me. With movie posters however, I can barely think of a handful of new ones from the past few years that even made an impression. The best one I've seen in recent memory was for The Beyond, and that was a rerelease.

Thats the great thing about this site's template. Even if the movie poster site has no recent stuff, it will still be a huge online history of great movie poster art. Fans and collectors will build the community.

Not a bad idea actually! I'll keep it in mind for #4.

I guess my vote would be for album art. The thing about movie posters is that not many people have designed them. I've had a hand in doing some for indie films but that's it. I think one of the things that keeps this site fresh is that the contributions are mostly from the people that post on this site. It seems that outside of talking about movies and prices what else would a non-creator have to look forward to posting everyday. I may be looking at this from a shallow view point but I can't see myself scanning in a bunch of cool movie posters that have been in books already just so I can tell everyone I like them.

man, i can't believe we haven't thought of it before. the album cover idea is a stroke of 20 people thinking at once! clay, u could do a whole series of em man, comic covers and so on,maybe thats been already mentioned,i haven't read the whole thread but....the list is endless,go fer it.
