Clay,
I think I would drop some of the less poopular topics, they just eat up space. We studies this at Saatchi & Saatchi and be REALLY effective, you gotta be sure to drop the topics not gettin any love, and keep the most pertinent ones on the front. Almost 80% of viewers will NEVER go past the front page of each section. So maybe include a few more comments (which is a fantastic tool by the way), make yer list of forums a little leaner ( and yank topics that are either just lame, or seem to have played themselves out). It's pretty easy to find the ones that no one gives a shit about, and it focuses people on more entertaining topics, keeping them coming back. Also, how about using an image rotator where no matter what page (forum) you are on, a small gif of a random poster with link pops up. Think "I will display a poster on every page that people see". That way you tie the forums and discussions with the catalogue of art in a more refreshing way. Also, you gotta start thinking merchandise my man. If you had the ability to start selling the stuff you show, I bet you could get a LOAD of artists who would be willing.
