feature a poster a day

Clay, couldn't you feature a poster a day? Get even more discussion going on maybe? Just instead of the poster of the week? I dunno, it's a rad site!

Well .. I could if I had the time.. problem is.. I can't always update the site daily, as I have a life in real life, and a full-time job.

I try to put as much effort into this site as humanly possible.. and I think its really becoming something to be proud of.

would be a cool idea.. maybe theres a code in computer language that could automatically pick one out and you wouldnt have to..

Yup .. that is possible, and I have been thinking about it. The only issue I have.. is that I want to pick good posters for a 'Poster of the Day' .. not just a random one... so I would have to pick a months worth or something.. and then it would automatically display one each day. If I can find the time, I can make this happen.

Its too bad that the voting system for poster of the day that I had in place a couple months back didn't work out. I was hoping it would. There are just too many posters to choose from, and too much competition between designers for this to work.

Another question:

If I created a random poster page would anyone use it? All you would have to do is click a button or refresh the page, and a random poster would appear. Good idea or not???

id just simply have a default thang.. then it would just put it where poster of the week is u know? make it random, art is subjective anyway lol

Well .. I could do that.. but the whole reason that I want a poster of the week on the front page is so that new visitors to the site immediately get an idea what the site is about, and like it. If I put a random poster up there .. it might turn away some new visitors, because there are some very bad posters on this site as well as good ones.

I also don't want a random image on the front page, because people will just sit there and refresh it .. bad idea.. the front page of gigposters.com is the most intense and could bog down the server if everyone is refreshing it over and over again.

maybe you could pick like 10 posters and have the coderotate those randomly for a week. Then you would get good posters with less work.

Just pick 50 random posters,hell you already gots 30 from me! Just kidding, pick out YER faves. Then you the random image on every page. The after 2 months or so, you make another set. Hell, set up a discussion on what posters we want, we'll select em for you. Plus, you could have a random image come from yer library. If yer not proud of the images that might come up, then maybe it's time to start SCREENING the art, and getting rid of so much of the half-ass college flyers that up this site!

What?!?!? I WILL NOT be turning any poster away from this site based on quality. Thats not why I built this site.

This site serves as not only a gallery for successful gig poster designers, but also as a site for everyone who designs posters.. and.. as a historic archive of live shows.

I will think about everything that everyone has suggested in here (thanks again!) ... and I will come up with a solution that I feel is right. (Just give me some time.. I'm a busy man)
