    Default Mechanics of the flood

Hey, dumb question -- when you guys flood your screen, do you pull a print, then push the ink back for the flood stroke?

(searching revealed much flood discussion but no completely basic description of doing it.)

i am no expert...just at work today in a small room looking at lots of computer screens

but i pull a print...lift a bit and flood with one hand....rack (or pin to wire in my case)....register new paper....print....lift a bit and flood with one hand (my right) and so on and so on

i figure it helps to not dry out the ink

thanks, theooze, that's kinda what I envisioned. seems efficient.

+ I love the enormous role that beer plays in screenprinting on this board. I think screenprinters are my people.

Pull your print, lightly push the ink back up to the top (with both hands) leaving a thick coating, leave your squeegee up top, lift your screen, unload the sheet, load another, repeat.

as we can all agree, depending on the weather and the time of day and the ink, paper, art, screen and squeegee, you might want a heavy flood and a tight upright pull, or you need a firm flood and a medium pull OR you might want to only flood every third print or every other or only when you notice an error OR you might want to alternate firm and heavy floods with the variance in the angle of your dangle.

it's all pretty clear. just check the paper for the phase of the moon and that should solve all your printing questions about how and when to flood. right guys?

I flood when the paper's still down, then pull the screen up, take the paper out, rack it, drink, register a new piece, pull, repeat.

I pull a print. lift with one hand while flooding with the other. I skip the beer step. However.... my girlfriend is here now and actually encourages drinking so I might start using the beer step soon.
