i used a homemade screen to print a design once. it was my first impression of screen printing and it ruined me on the idea for about two years. the print came out so bad that i figured i'd just leave it to the "pros." if i'd have just bought a real screen, i'd be so much further ahead of where i am now.
that's awesome that it worked out as well as it did for you. kudos!
My second screen I ever made for my friend's baseball team was like that - I actually spraypainted through it, used it like a stencil. I was unclear on the squeegee thing, and didn't have any ink anyway.
The Ballfreaks - buncha fucking hippies, they thought it was great.
