    Default Make Your Own Paint?

    Hi everyone,

I've read a lot in these forums about using house paint with floetrol for screen printing. I'm interested in finding an even cheaper and more sustainable way to have paint consistently. I wanted to see if anyone here makes their own paint? I've seen recipes online that are as simple as flour + oil = paint, but that seems too easy. Any thoughts?

I make my own paint out of whale oil, ground up tiger bones, and white lead.

If you want to reinvent the wheel, it's doubtful that you can actually make paint cheaper and more environmentally safe than the companies that are in the business of doing so.

But if you want to try, I recommend suspending pigment of various sorts in Boiled Linseed oil. Linseed oil has to be cooked if you ever want it to dry. Linseed oil is from the flax plant and has over 1000 years of proven reliability as a paint medium.
