Default how do YOU sign your stuff?

In college I took a lot of art classes. Both my photo teacher and my digital arts teacher wanted us to sign name, edition number and the title of the piece on the front. I was doing that (minus the title part, which I find kind of lame) until recently. A friend of mine that is a framer for a very serious art gallery told me that all the printmakers that show work there are signing and numbering their pieces on the back--so I started doing that. I liked that solution except that at my art show I had to repeatedly hear "are these signed?" "Why don't you sign the front?"

So, what do YOU do? Consider this a poll of sorts.

I usually sign the front, edition the back.

I usually do NOT sign reprints... not for any reason; I just started doing it that way and it stuck.

i number in the left lower corner, title in the center on art prints, (not posters), and sign in the right bottom corner.

i used to sign and number on the back, because i was a shy dolt. but i got tired of having people ask me to sign them again on the front at shows and / or send prints back for the same.

i don't know nothing about the Art World in general, but i figure a) give the people what they want (hellooo ray davies!) and b) if editioning, signing and numbering on the front worked in the past for everyone from the old masters and modernist print makers, it's good enough for me.

On the front, in one of the bottom corners, signature, edition number, as long as there's room. If not, then on the back. For art prints I never write the title because I'm lazy and have poor penmanship. If I practiced cursive more, this might change.

    "name of piece".............................number......... .......................signature

that's how I was taught by a traditional printmaker when I was in school

I rarely name anything tho and just put............signature....number

ON THE FRONT at the bottom of the image. if its a bleed I write right on the image
