So my hard drive exploded yesterday in a cataclysmic burst.
Lost a bit of client work (luckily not too much), but the bummer is I lost almost all of the daily illustrations I was doing, so all I have are the low-res ones I posted on my website.
No book yet. Did you get a tracking number? This is the real reason I'm distraught.

what exactly happened to your computer?
I'm (was) working on a MacBook which might as well be the surface of the sun. Long story short, the battery got too hot, swelled up and since the battery is located right next to the hard drive, damaged the hard drive. The good news is that Apple's going to replace the hard drive, battery and bottom chassis of the machine for free. The bad news is that I lost a lot of data.
I purchased a 500GB external and now have the software set up to do a full backup nightly. No more sad panda stories about lost data for me.
Happened to me once a few years back. The hard drive in my iMac died, and nothing was recoverable. I lost about 4 - 5 months of work and photos that I had not backed up. I have a external HD that i back up to at least twice a week now. Lesson learned.
