    Default Is it time?

    Is it time to 'organize'?

You guys are hitting the 12th Flatstock... 6 years or so of having API as an organization to help with promoting your art and the scene in general.

    Lots of success...

But no hint of any guidelines, ethics and all that sort of rule-bullshit that can be either good or bad depending how they are implemented

Why not use FS12 to talk about and perhaps even act on setting up some basic 'rules' that people affiliated with API should at least follow

    1. No selling of posters before the date of the show

    2. Minimum charge of (say) $50 for a poster for venues/bands or barter against the right to sell those posters yourselves through your own sales channels

    3. Written agreement requirement from either band or venue or promotor.

The above are just for kicks... at a minimum it could lead to some interesting discussion material during FS12. Some of it might be impossible to get a consensus on but why not give this list if rules a whirl and see where it goes?

The lack of a code of conduct is baffling to me... though I understand that a lot of people are violently alleregic to rules

Every freaking time a discussion will pop on gp about the legalities of selling posters that were made for a venue or the idea of working for free. You guys have a perfect infrastructure to discuss this shit and get some basic consensus, to set up a list, to educate others etcetera.

    whatever

This discussion should happen on the API website (and at Flatstock), not here in public space.

But, hell yes. Count me in.

"Every single Crosshair poster I've ever seen is almost exactly the same. Do these guys even have a bit of creativity in them? I mean, come one - shitty old building pics photoshopped with text over them. Pretty pathetic to say the least."

"it just seems like so little effort is put into creating this? am i missing something?"

You can't tell me what to do, you're not my REAL dad!!!!

But, expecting everyone to charge a minimum is unrealistic I think.

I'm not an API member but I think most of you would be ripping the band off asking for $50.

charge monetary fee or barter for the right to sell posters...

that concept should be fairly easy to agree on and f not at least get a vote to see where the membership stands on this

FS12 will have 100 or so poster artists in attendance.... a fairly good representation of the current scene, including some of the big players. Use the address of API and have them vote by email (if needed) on some rules/guidelines...

When is the API meeting during FS12? Have we seen a comprehensive agenda for the week yet?

I'm so glad I started making posters BEFORE I'd ever heard of this godforsaken website.

YEah, but you follow some goodtimes rules that actually make sense.

    Need approval from the band

Need to deliver a product that is FOR the band and their FANS... not for your own career advancement or product placement

Don't sell before showdate... which is easy for you because you have never actually sold a poster I think

Barter your services for free budweiser backstage
