Default New arrivals on the home page.

Clay, does the script you use only cycle thorough the first couple pages of new arrivals? cause I've noticed when their are over 100 or so waiting for approval, when they finally go live the same ones keep showing up, usually the first 8 or so pages of new arrivals.....which would be less than half of the new arrivals approved getting cycled on the home page.

because if their were over 100 awaiting approval, than only the last 50 people to submit get their's shown on the home page. kinda unfair......

it's only showcasing half of the new arrivals not all of them......

Well ... thats precisely why I chose to randomize the thumbs on the front page. Before .. people would wait until the last second when they new I was approving posters, just so they could get on the front page. It was very annoying. So .. now it randomizes the latest 50.

I won't be going above 50 .. because it will slow down everyone's browsing experience. 50 thumbs cache in your browser quicker than 100+. If anything .. I should lower the value to 25 or something.

But... by only using 50, you're getting the old problem right back again. Everyone will be waiting in hopes of getting their poster in that lucky last 50. (More so, now that everyone knows it's 50!)

You need to buy a monkey and train it to approve posters. Or a robot. Or a robot monkey.

fair enough, i understand the browser issue, it would make sense if you approved new arrivals in batches of 50 but at the rate they get submitted, if you go three or four days without approving them, and the number of poster awaiting approval tops 100, then the first 50 or so people get shafted on the front page exposure.

just saying......i know you have your reasons and are a busy man......

i guess my point was a more frequent approval process.

    c'est la vie.
