    Default Official Flatstock 9 Thread

Flatstock 9, presented by Pitchfork Music Festival and The American Poster Institute, will be held for two days, July 29th and 30th, 2006 at Union Park on the grounds of the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL. This event will take place RAIN OR SHINE and takes place OUTDOORS. Tents are provided with your registration. One tent per booth. Side tent flaps will be available in the event of rain. Flatstock and the Pitchfork Music Festival will run from noon until 10pm both days.

Please check out the Pitchfork Music Festival site to see the bands who are playing, including Spoon, Yo La Tengo, Os Mutantes (!), Mission of Burma, and many more.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
Booths can be shared but are limited to TWO artists/studios per table. If you plan on sharing please indicate who you will be sharing with on the registration form. Cost is $230 (US) per booth. Based on availability, it MAY be possible to sign up for double booths as well, but these CANNOT be shared. IF there are still booths available by Tuesday, April 25th, double booths will be made available to API members who are already registered, in the order they are registered. If available, a double booth will be $445. All of these amounts include the $25 Chicago business license fee owed by each exhibitor.

API will provide set up and tear down of the tent, table and chairs plus three pieces of cardboard for booth backing. As with other Flatstocks, you can hang banners, posters, etc. with pins or hooks / wire from the cardboard provided to you, but must not damage the tents in any way. It is suggested that you bring heavy tape to assemble the cardboard into a wall configuration within your tent. Booth dimensions are 10' X 10' and contain one table (measuring approximately 6' x 2.5') and two chairs.

There will be 70 booths available. An email was sent to API members yesterday (Tuesday), and some of the booths have already sold.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
Please carefully read all the information on the registration page of www.flatstock.com.

Cancellation Policy: There will be no refunds for cancellations requested after 7/7/06.
A 50% refund of the booth fee may be granted if a cancellation request is received by the API from 6/23/06 through 7/6/06.
A full refund (less $20 to cover expenses incurred by the API) may be granted at the API's discretion for a cancellation request received before 6/22/06.

    Please visit www.flatstock.com to register.

Please download the contract, print it, sign it, and mail it off as soon as possible, to:

    Jennifer Connor
    API
    1355 Rich Lane
    Buda, TX
    78610

Your contract and payment are both due before June 15, 2006. Please feel free to send them sooner.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
By purchasing an artist's display booth you are allowed to sell original poster art ONLY. You may not sell band merchandise, band t-shirts, CDs or other non-studio related materials. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Failure to abide by these guidelines can result in ejection from the event. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE STATE OF ILLINOIS REQUIRES EACH EXHIBITOR TO COLLECT SALES TAX AND TO REMIT IT TO THE STATE.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
You can send your posters and supplies ahead of time to:

    Dan MacAdam
    c/o Crosshair
    1319 W Lake St.
    Chicago, IL
    60607
These need to arrive before July 25, 2006
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are designing a FLATSTOCK poster to promote the show for hanging around Chicago please send them to the same address. We need them by June 25, 2006.

    Posters should include the text:
A.P.I. and Pitchfork Music Festival present
    FLATSTOCK 9
Rock Poster Convention at the PITCHFORK MUSIC FESTIVAL
    Union Park, Chicago
Noon-10 pm Saturday and Sunday, July 29 and 30, 2006
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
Since FS runs until 10pm, there are plans being made for a FRIDAY night dinner for registered FS participants and their guests. Details will be announced on Gigposters.com as they become available.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
A block of hotel rooms are being sought right now. If you opt to get your own hotel room immediately, please consider the distance from Union Park - many hotels which consider themselves "Chicago-area" are possibly located far out in the suburbs, near the airports, and would ensure drives of an hour to and from Union Park.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry in advance for random questions / thoughts I have...

Will there be lights for us? The show goes till 10pm and we are in tents outside...just curious if there will be lights in the tents or from the sides, etc...to be able to see the posters...when it gets dark out.

dragacorns will not be supplied with your booth fee, unfortunately, though we will arrange for a batch rental of chain-mail singlets, if anyone's interested.
