    Default WHY does Journey suck?

I mean seriously...all bullshit aside? As musicians they're better than MOST if not all metal bands. Is it because they sing about chicks, chick things and fucking chicks? Should they sing about vikings and slaughtering people?

    just curious.

    Jeph...this is why Journey sucks.

In just about every bar I have ever been in Journey is on the jukebox. Whenever that fucking don't stop believing song comes on every fat chick in the bar feels the need to screach it at the top of their lungs.

And that is why Journey sucks.

Well, I can tell you, they were the shit back in the day, but having dissolved with such rancor, and subsequently been on again off again depending on all the wrong reasons, they are now just shitty (in retrospect).

And they've burned out any good willl they had built up.

Before Steve Perry joined Journey was a greasers band, they had creditabilty, maybe I'm not a spaceman was a hint of their future direction. Then they , the auto heads ,moved over to AC/DC.This is way before Flipper died for your sins and the skateboaders discovered Black Flag.

I think, at best, Journey was an overblown pop band with Prog Rock aspirations, before Perry Joined. After, they became part of what I think of as the triad: Journey, Styx and Kansas. For the most part, these bands were (at that time) filled with completely interchangable members. Would anyone have really noticed that Steve Smith was no longer Journey's Drummer? Would it have made all that much difference if JY and Neal Schon traded places?

In truth, Jonathan Cain led to Journey's demise. His dabblings in synth laced sugary late career John Waite pop (not that I have anything against John Waite per se, I still like a few Babys tunes), combined with Steve Perry's solo "success" to create an atmosphere in which anyone with a set of ears could tell they had cashed in and were just waiting for the check to clear.

I think currently, the respective bands are doing what they should be doing - playing all the time, making an honest living, and paying loyal fans back for their years of enduring shjt like Raised on Radio, Mr. Roboto, and Drastic Measures.
