    Talking Thickening house paint

Anybody got any down and dirty tricks to thicken house paint without resorting to using gel medium? I don't want the gel medium to kill the opacity. I've tried letting the paint dry out a little but it takes too long. Do you think it would thicken up to a good consistancy if i put it in the fridge for a little while?

Dumb question: what are you going to use it for?

If it's screen printing, ask Seripop, 'cause as far as i know, they're the house paint gurus around here.

just leave the top off of it for a while...it may take some time, but it'll thicken up. maybe put it into a wide, shallow dish. more area exposed to air should help, too.

Doesn't it gum up in the screen when it thickens?

i don't know if it will gum it up, but it may dry in the screen quicker than normal. maybe if you get really dry, then there might be a problem.

    Smile

Just wanted to give ya'll an update. I think i might have answered my own question. Liquitex makes this stuff called Liquithick that is for thickening acylics. I mixed liquithick and some flotrol in with the house paint and i actually got a pretty nice consistancy similer to regular ink. And it only takes a few dabs to do the trick.

here's a link to go check it out:
