For those who charge...WHY?
Just need some inside info here. For the most part, is the amount charged actually used for supplies and/or labor?
Basically if you use your screens for your own use, do you save yourself any money over outsourcing them?
Cause the screens have got to be coated, burned and reclaimed...all things which take time and require that someone gets paid to do it.
What Goodtimes said.. I also charge for art, films, colour changes, flash, etc.. nothing is free.
$20 small (up to 24x24)
$40 lg (41x53)
and if anyone thinks that is a lot for clean ink/remove stencil/haze/degrease/dry/coat/dry/burn/washout/tape/wear and tear they should try doing it themselves.
It ain't like washing out a pop bottle.
That people don't charge enough is one reason most all screenprinters are broke most of the time. Except Andydiesel
I am not arguing to fact to add the charges, I guess I am wondering if bobby's project goes through I would have to print up a number of designs with a low run and was wondering if that would suck up all the money I would be investing. Seems with all the different colors for the different designs the screen charges would cost way more than the shirts themselves...
Sampling ain't cheap. It's a lot of work and shop time. Yeah...the setup is gonna be more than your printing cost.
It's all about time.
emulsion, chemicals and films also cost money
But...not as much as labor in a high volume shop.
screen prep and reclaiming takes a fair amount of time
