    Default new screen prep?

i remember something in some posts before about prepping new screens. i have searched hither as well as yon, and i cannot find anything about it. i remember something about microgrit, softscrub, degreaser, and rubber diapers…but the order and the specifics are lost in the recesses of my mind. Perhaps Andymac or someone else could clear this up with one sentence of instruction and three of sarcasm. The sarcasm might make it a quasi-enjoyable thread for others.

Thanks for the bump guys…it has been up for 8 minutes now.

Pee pee? i haven't heard of using that. Does the acidic quality of your urine substitute for dehazer? Or perhaps it contains a mild abrasive, or microgrit, if you will. Just a couple hypotheses.

emulsion doesn't adhere well to new screens...i give mine a good scrub with powder laundry detergent (the cheapest stuff works best for me, it stays abrasive longer)
this gives the screen a fine "tooth" for the emulsion to grab on to.

i use a bit of comet and a scrubby pad thing... just give it a little rubby rubby, wash it out completely, then rinse and rinse untill all the leftover crud is gone. get some dishwashing soap and apply a little, give it some more rubby rubby, wash and rinse, then dry, and youll have prepped screens. im sure thats not the best way to do it, but it works.

A little rubby rubby with the scrubby scrubby? Sounds easy enough. Do you use the scrubby with the dishsoap too? And the abrasive doesn't hurt the mesh?

Many printers find they can't afford proper materials to reclaim and prepare screens. It's no secret most suppliers are out to rip you off, when in reality many commonly found household materials and bodily functions will allow for inexpensive reclaiming. Why waste money on supplies that could be spent on beer and cigarettes?

    Low tech screen roughener:

    Eat large quantity sand.

Save shit from next day in plastic container.

Rub screen with small amount of microgrit shit. Wash out with pee stream.

    Haze remover:

Drink mixture of raw egg, grey poop-on mouseturd, and rancid bacon grease. Wait until vomit reaction starts.

Direct barf stream at screens. Bile in puke will dissolve leftover stencil and ink residue. Rinse with high pressure pee.

    Stencil remover:

Wet screen with pee. Use grinding disc on power drill. Remove dust and old stencil by gentle flatulence directed at remains of mesh.

    Degreaser:

Crush old AA alkalyne batteries (do not use rechargable Lithium or NiCad) until sap oozes. Collect sap. When you are ready to degrease screens, lick sap from container, when it combines with saliva, it will start to tingle. Hork up loogie, spit on screen, then use tongue to spread over both sides of mesh. Let sit for 60 seconds. Rinse with high pressure pee stream.
