anyone use these? if i purchase one, is there anything else i need to make it work? is there something else i need to buy to get the screen to stay on the frame, or is it all self-contained? also, i seem to think that the durometers are pretty expensive. is there any way to guesstimate the amount of tension that's on the mesh?
You will need a bottle of Valium for the learning curve. Sandpaper to smooth the burrs off the metal if you ever get them. Locking strips, which should come with them and a wrench that fits the bolts on the ends. (big)
Good luck, it can be a struggle at first not to go overboard on the tension.
they fuckin rule. get them. they're easy to use, stretch taut as a board. all you'll need to stretchthem is a big wrench and a ratchet. i posted almost your exact post like two years ago, i had bought 6 used ones, and was scared to stretch them, someone here (richie?) told me to just...stretch them and stop being a nancy-boy.
i can never seem to get them level when i stretch them. anyone have any tips on getting them level after you put the mesh on?
I have a bunch of diamond chase, very similar to neumans, I find if you hold them flat when you tighten the lock nuts on either end they stay flat. If you have a corner that sticks up, slack the nuts, hold it down flat, and tighten.
