Im thinking about building a 2 color press at the end of my table. Just some hinges and screens. Whats the best way to get them to register?

Register to your paper. Use removable tabs.

tape some mylar on one end of your printing surface. print the image onto the mylar. slide some paper underneath the mylar and register it and set some removable reg pins. remove the mylar and get to printing.

i use dymo label as paper guides.

to put the paper in register i use 3 common references in each sep.
(ie., i have a few stars in the design in my first screen, i will have those stars in the subsequent screens, but i put clear packing tape over the area so it wont print, but i can see thru to line up the screen to the star that was printed from the previous screen.)

    does that make sense?

PS. i am not anal about reg at all so i don't know exactly how tight my method can be.....???

I print corner or crop marks on the positives. From these I line up the paper on the printing station I built (because I don't have a table to screw clamps onto) that's all nice a tacky from the repositionable spray adhesive. Once I get the paper lined up, I make sure it's stuck down pretty good then line the sides of the paper with old newspapers, so when you pull the paper up there is a big empty space where the next sheet will go. Rinse, repeat. This works pretty well if you don't mind slight variation from print to print, but that's part of the charm, isn't it?

OK this is what i made.... my question is. How do I get the registration right if i want to do multi color prints? Whats the best way to just be able to pick up one print and do another and know its gonna be in the same spot.
