Thread: Emulsion Help

    Default Emulsion Help

Has anyone else had this problem. It is getting worse. The last gallon of emulsion that I bought just started wearing off the screen after about 20 prints. (first pic) I bought a new gallon thinking that it was a bad batch and now these spreckles start appearing after about 5 or 6 prints. (second pic)
It is only happening with dark colors. I am using Ulano 925 WR emulsion and printing with TW waterbased ink.
One thing I am worried might be causing it is that I clog up any pin holes with a little emulsion after exposure and re expose the screen again.
I am putting two coats on each side and exposing the screen for 8 minutes with a 1000w metal halide. I am sure about my exposure times.

    Help please.

I would like to add to that the emulsion is wearing away wherever the squeegee passes over something such as my reg. marks and on the edges of the paper.

I use haze remover and Ivory soap and water in a squeeze bottle to degrease.

Just to clarify, not haze remover and soap in a bottle but haze remover first then degrease.

try using Dawn, that's what i used from 1990-1997, i still use it when we run out of regular degreaser.

that's my best guess for now.

only when the degreasing wasn't done or the emulsion isn't resistant to the ink. You should cal tw and see what emulsions they recomend for use with the line of ink you use.

i use simple green to degreese

i'm sure you dont, butt if you do, dont touch the screen w/your fingers after de greasing

is your screen completely dry when you coat it . i get in a hurry sometimes and coat screens with lil drops of water on it and it fucks the emulsion in lil spots

    all out of ideas
