CALL FOR ARTISTS
AC Design Connections / Bloomingdale’s Art Exhibition
Bloomingdale’s, Roosevelt Field Mall,
630 Old Country Rd, Garden City, NY 11530
From May 2014 to December 2014
Bloomingdale’s Department Store, the third most visited tourist attraction in NYC (after the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building), has had a long history of working to connect their customers to the fine arts, from collaborating with the Museum of Modern Art and the New Museum of Contemporary Art to working with the biggest talents in the Art world. More than any other store, Bloomingdale's enjoys a unique legacy with the arts, most distinctively represented through its iconic and historical shopping bags.
"We have always had huge recognition of the fact that contemporary art is a vital social force that extends beyond the art world into broader culture, perhaps none more notably than in fashion," said Jack Hruska, Bloomingdale's Executive Vice President of Creative Services “…Bloomingdale’s has, for decades, embraced the idea that art should be widely accessible and continues to acknowledge its very relevant place in the lives of our customers."
What do Andy Warhol, Federico Fellini, John Stango, Mark Kostabi, Richard F. Outcault, Joseph Kinigstein, Michaele Vollbracht, Massimo Vignelli, Sydney Albertini, Brandon d'Leo, Cara Earl, Jason Hackenwerth, Michelle Handleman, Ran Hwang, Mika Ninagawa, Jean-Claude Wouters, Antonio Lopez, Michael Graves, Franco Moschino, Matthew Rolston, Ettore Sottsass, Audrey Schilt, Donna Karan, Diane Von Furstenberg, Cynthia Rowley, Norma Kamali, and Francesco Costa have in common? All these legends from the worlds of art and design have displayed their talents at Bloomingdale’s over the years.
