Thread: diluting inks ?

  1. #1

    Default diluting inks ?

im as new as it gets to screenprinting,
seems the ink i bought is thick and pasty,
the ink is designated for paper and cardboard, i dilute it with reducer and it flows better.
but it clogs up the image area very fast
with what product do i dilute it and make it less sticky, can i solve this with reducer or thinner from the hardware store ,or do i need specialty products?
the ink is sanchez screenprinter ink a mexican company, maybe someone has expierence with this ink?

Use retarder instead of reducer. To reduce only use distilled water (as the ph of your tap water may actually speed up drying).
Prewet your screen with water before you put the ink on and it wont clog so fast.

I think the Sanchez products are solvent based? if they are - don't mix water, they need some kind of thinner. some of the more crude inks you can add paint thinnner (from a store) but usually you usewhat the ink people sell, as it matches the makeup of the ink.

You have to move fast to print solvent based inks. You can buy a retarder for this (slows drying)
