so, im trying to rip a pdf of some seps, printed to file creating a .ps file, and it keeps flushing the job. ive tried everything i can think of, but no luck. any suggestions. im pretty sure its an illustrator problem, as i had no problem doing the same thing with a quark doc.

Ummm...any funky blends in the Ill file? Gradient Meshes or anything like that? Did you use Transparancy anywhere? Are you ripping to a Postscript 3 device? If you aren't neither transparency or gradient meshes will work. Need more info Kevin. I troubleshoot this shit like everyday.

Can you even save an illustrator file as a post script filr? I'm a pre press God but I never do it that way. Just place the fucker (saved as an EPS) in Quark and BAMM. Tits.

Yeah...you can do it. Instead of printing to Printer in the Destination Box in the top right corner of the print dialogue set it to file. The run that file through Acrobat Distiller.

yeah but i want a pdf page of each sep, know what i mean. if you just drop the eps into distiller, you are going to get a composite.

    that was for darren.

At my job we alway open everything in Illus. 8, because 9 doesn't postscript right, as you said. Stick to 8 or 10. Don't even waste yoiur time troubleshooting it. And as far as I know, there is no fix for the problem.
