Bootlegs are lame. This fake Mudhoney poster guy is only negligibly better the Chinese knockoff magnets/wallets/keychains made from jpgs taken from this very site. I say do it the right way, or don't do it at all.

This part of the story is especially egregious:

If dude wasn't working with the band, venue, or management; it's not official. The audacity of this chump to say otherwise when he clearly knows how the poster came to be.

Sounds like he was playing to the "I'm a local, support the locals, fuck the big bad out of town Man, man" current of poster artist inferiority/resentment.

OK, so Bobby who worked with the bands on the straight and level is a corporate carpetbagger, and someone local who cooked up a bootleg is the legit one. Right. I get it.

I'm all for local artists doing local shows but you gotta do it right or all you'll ever be is a local bootlegger with a bad rep.

Also, he(bootlegger)was there early enough to see Bobby's print. Which I think sold out before Mudhoney started. They were also selling other posters from the series.
He did the same thing to me when I did a poster for Helmet. Showed up with prints even though I had permission through Helmet and put prints up around town because I am local.

Putting aside all poster talk for a minute, every city ordinance I've ever heard of makes it illegal to sell something in front of a place of business without a permit. So that handsome hombre is probably breaking a real-live law.
